Chairman's Report for year ended 31 March 2015
The year to 31 March 2015 has focussed on preparing a credible Resource Consent application for the Watersports Facility and raising $25,000 through the "Foundation Club" to pay for the experts' reports required. We achieved both these objectives (raising in excess of $50,000) thanks to an enthusiastic team effort led for the most part by Trustees Nic Blennerhassett and Mick Hollyer, with assistance from Architect Alistair Madill and Planner Duncan White. The Trust received overwhelming public support for inclusion of the Watersports Facility in the Wanaka Lakeshore Reserves Management Plan. This was an outstanding effort. The Trustees would like to thank members of the Steering Committee for their guidance and our various experts for their expertise and timely reports. We also acknowledge members of the "Foundation Club" for their financial contribution and belief in our ability to achieve our purpose. In addition we acknowledge the generosity of Alistair Madill and Legal Counsel Graeme Todd, who have both donated $20,000 of free fees to the project. I am confident we have the highest quality and most objective reports supporting our preferred location for the Facility on the Roys Bay Lake Reserve. It is a privileged site and we have produced a concept befitting of this. We have been totally transparent with the Wanaka community and therefore there have been no surprises concerning the proposed Community Watersports building. Thank you fellow Trustees for your dedication to task and excellent company. Michael Sidey Chaiman, Wanaka Watersports Facility Trust |
